Make the Call

It's difficult to integrate scientific principles into daily perception of reality. Recently I've been reading  'The Physics of Superheroes' by James Kakalios, a primer on physics for those that never took physics or the nerdy, curious types who love superheroes. In a chapter discussing the Three Laws of Thermodynamics the term 'entropy' was brought to light; "Entropy is the term used to describe the number of different ways a given system can arrange itself." A new deck of cards packaged numerically and by suit has low entropy as compared to a thoroughly shuffled pack, he exampled. It's the same application of terminology for air molecules in a room as playing cards in a deck. It only requires a system and inherent probability.

This is important in comprehending how to derive the most energy out of a system. When designing a system, controlling probability is key. Specifically, it's applicable to life-choices and why one has to make them. In my youth I asked my father why I had to be one particular career. I imagined careers as knowing only a few select things and no child wants to hear about limits. Overspecialization reduces adaptability just like in prize breeding and I wanted to be supremely adaptable. But the energy required for a single person to know all things and be able to employ them efficiently is unattainable. Sorry, Bats.

It's not defeatist, it's physics. It's both frightening and comforting to know that this isn't an applied metaphor either. In judging the success of your endeavors, the broader the definitions of success the greater your likelihood of achieving them but the less pay off they will have. I hope that this law will replace the truism about 'things that come easily' but in the system of our population, I feel the entropy is a little too high.

Counseling yourself

For the past month or so I've been reading through books and anything else I find in relation to Buckminster Fuller. I feel very comforted by hearing his all-inclusive, utopian, well-minded productive outlooks. His writing makes no effort to hide his personality, with ample supplies of commas and hyphenated creations, examples of intelligent speech alterations (no more 'up' and 'down' since we don't live on flat x-y landscapes - 'out' and 'in' are more correct), and his complete lack of trying to make it easily digestible. But when you receive all these pieces together and read the soundness of his arguments through science and facts it is at times, truly inspiring. I was immediately a fan.

Fuller created many things by a philosophy that creating artifacts for future generations was the best method of being productive for the future with the least imposition on another's rights. His creations exposed a better state of living than is currently being employed. He saw buildings and architecture evolved very slowly (50 year increments per advancement) and so he applied his knowledge toward letting you do what you need to do in the least infringing fashion while also being most efficient with Universe-supplied materials. Sustainability is notably influenced by his creations.

His most well known project was his geodesic dome which relied on using nature to their fullest advantage. It was more practical to use gravity and principles of mathematics to create solutions than to preserve and accept obsolete creations.

Under mathematics circles have the greatest ratio of interior volume to surface space therefore they require less materials. How much material would be needed to cover this chair 'like a building'?:

Maybe we can start with the cat having its own dome.

One more before the Road

This one didn't require much clean up. I like its flow.

Hopefully I'll be screen printing tomorrow. For the weekend there'll be photos of the montage-trading-card project and a brief explanation.

A Protagonist is fine too

These are a couple images of my main protagonist. I'm not going to elaborate about details like name, background, or conflict yet. I will say that these images are from three very separate chronological points. I will upload more as I scan and clean them up.

Mission of Purpose

I intend to use this blog to share progress on my day to day project primarily entitled 'Without Call'. I will include related partial sketches to full illustrations as well as writing excerpts. I welcome and encourage feedback from readers and viewers.

I will also be using this to self-reflect upon my explorations into relationships. For the courtesy of those I have had relationships with in the past, I have removed their names and will remove any comments that give names. I hope to learn from my past experiences in order to maintain courage to explore all experiential aspects of relationships that interest me.

I invite others to build interrelationships with this site. Through cultivating an ever-growing network, instantly accessible world-around, I intend to find and share new ideas and hopes for the future.

'Malignancy Productions' is a title originating from my college years. Initially I wanted its biological connotations but now I hold it up with theoretical, poetic, and scientific struts. This title, like any title we give ourselves through screennames, nicknames, or self-started companies, is a naturally occurring reinvention of ourselves in relating to the world at large. Therefore I say hello to everyone visiting and welcome!
